01 / BEFORE DEPARTURE
From runway to the sky
- Prepare the airplaneSelect RUNWAY · COLD START. Keep the landing gear DOWN, release Space (wheel brakes), and press F for optional 10° takeoff flaps.
- Apply full powerHold Shift to advance the throttle to 90–100%. Taxi and steer down the runway centerline with gentle Q / E rudder inputs.
- Rotate graduallyNear 65–75 KT, hold S briefly to raise the nose. Avoid sharp pitch inputs; they can bleed airspeed or trigger a stall.
- Establish the climbOnce airborne, confirm a positive vertical speed, retract gear with G, and retract flaps with V. Target roughly 90–110 KT.
- Climb outUse small pitch adjustments to trade airspeed for altitude. Do not over-rotate or bank steeply at low altitude.
PILOT TIP airspeed is measured in knots (KT), altitude in feet (FT), vertical speed in feet per minute (FPM).
02 / AIRBORNE OPERATIONS
Climb, turn and navigate
- Fly with gentle inputsS pitches up; W pitches down. A and D bank your wings. The controls are progressively responsive at flying speed.
- Manage energySet throttle using Shift / Ctrl. Nose-up flight climbs but slows you down; nose-down flight descends and speeds up. Cruise around 100–140 KT.
- Navigate to your airportPress M for the navigation map. Use the flight computer's waypoint bearing and distance. Press N to choose your destination.
- Use the autopilotWhile airborne, press O for heading-to-destination and altitude hold. Touching the manual yoke disengages autopilot. It cannot land for you.
- Watch the instrumentsUse the artificial horizon, indicated airspeed, vertical speed and AGL readings. Watch for stalls, overspeed, wind and storm turbulence.
PILOT TIP a modest bank and steady throttle give you the smoothest turns. Check your map before descent.
03 / APPROACH AND TOUCHDOWN
Bring it home safely
- Join final approachUse M to locate the airport and line up along the runway, not across it. Begin your descent with plenty of distance.
- Configure for landingPress G until the gear indicator reads DOWN. Reduce throttle with Ctrl, and press F once or twice for 10–20° flaps.
- StabilizeAim for roughly 65–85 KT and a 300–600 FPM descent. Use pitch for airspeed, throttle for descent. Keep the wings nearly level.
- Flare gentlyAs you approach the runway surface, slowly raise the nose with S, reduce power, and let the wheels touch at a low sink rate.
- Brake and roll outPull throttle toward idle and hold Space to brake. Stay centered with Q / E. Hard or gear-up landings can end the flight.
PILOT TIP if your descent is too fast or your approach is unstable, add power, climb away, and try again.
